KUCHING, Nov 9: Candidate Eric Tay (GPS-SUPP) has pledged to address and follow through to solve flash flood issues in P195 Bandar Kuching if he were to be elected in the 15th General Election (GE15).
“We have this problem year in year out, for the past 10 years or 15 years,” he said when launching his GE15 manifesto at Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching branch office here today.
The nine-point manifesto also included Tay’s promises to build more clinics, multipurpose halls, affordable nursing homes for the elderly, better roads and city planning to ease traffic congestion.
Other than infrastructure and facilities, Tay said he would provide low-interest loans and incentives for small and medium enterprises as well as create more opportunities for women and youth entrepreneurship.
More direct flights to Kuching, more Federal grants for non-governmental organisations (NGOs), associations, religious, independent and mission schools, and more autonomy for Sarawak particularly in education, healthcare and taxation are among the things he would be fighting for if given the mandate.
“It is now time for a change. The decision is yours to make and I hope the people think about it rationally.
“Please support GPS and give us a strong mandate, give me a chance to perform for the next five years.
“We must be united. Please send GPS and I to the parliament and I will bring your voice to Parliament,” said Tay.
Also present at the press conference were SUPP president Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and SUPP Kuching branch chairwoman Datuk Lily Yong. — DayakDaily
