KUCHING, April 15: A total of 19 Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) in Tasik Biru have been delayed since 2022 due to unresolved encroachment issues, prompting Deputy Minister for Transport Sarawak (Riverine and Maritime) and Tasik Biru assemblyman, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, to call on all implementing agencies to urgently resolve the matter and expedite project implementation.

Chairing the RTP Project Progress Report Meeting for the constituency today, Henry stressed the need to resolve bottlenecks that have prevented these approved projects from starting or progressing according to schedule.

He echoed Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s recent disappointment over project delays despite funds having been allocated to relevant agencies.

“Since 2022, a total of 19 RTP projects in the Tasik Biru constituency have been delayed due to unresolved encroachment issues.

“All affected projects must be implemented as soon as possible, as they are intended to serve the daily needs of the local community,” Henry was quoted as saying in a press release.

He added that rural development projects — including the construction and upgrading of roads, public buildings, sports facilities, and social amenities — must be implemented without bureaucratic red tape from agencies, which often hinders proper project execution and delays commencement.

Representatives from the Bau District Office, Bau District Council, Land and Survey Department, Rural Water Supply Department, and other related agencies were also present at the meeting. — DayakDaily
