KUCHING, June 22: Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep has requested a one-week timeframe to coordinate with the relevant agencies on a resolution to the low water pressure and supply disruptions caused by diesel contamination at the Batu Kitang Water Treatment Plant.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), he also proposed the construction of an alternative pipeline to the Jagoi area.
“When two water supply systems are available, the pressure will be more stable and disruptions can be minimised,” he said.
He said this during the St Stephen Parish-level Gawai Dayak celebration in Bau on Saturday (June 21).
During the programme, Henry, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak, expressed his commitment to continue strengthening religious and public infrastructure in the Jagoi area.
As evidence of this commitment, he announced that three churches are currently undergoing upgrades: St Leo Church in Serasot, St Lucas Church in Duyoh, and St Francis Xavier Church.
He added that these efforts are part of his initiative to ensure that rural houses of worship continue to receive attention in terms of structural repairs, equipment, and the comfort of their congregations.
At the same time, he also announced the implementation of an air-conditioning system installation at St Mark’s Church, with an allocation of RM150,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for 2026, as an effort to enhance worshipper comfort during religious activities. — DayakDaily
