MIRI, 16 Jan: Miri police on Friday night (Jan 15) seized a tanker with 15,801 litres of diesel worth an estimated RM16,000.
According to Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, the seizure was made at a wharf in Jalan Cattleya 3, Piasau around 9.45 pm after receiving information from the public.
“Also detained in the raid carried out by personnel from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was a 43-year-old local man believed to be the tanker’s driver,” he said.
The police also found and seized several types of equipment (a diesel hose, a meter reader and a diesel general pump) worth RM110,880.
The case will be handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Miri branch.
The offence is framed under the Supply Control Act 1961. -DayakDaily
