KUCHING, Aug 27: A tanker vessel with five Indonesian crew members detained in Miri waters for multiple offenses under Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952/60.
According to Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Miri director Maritime Captain Mohd Shafie Paing, the vessel was detained at 17.5 nautical miles off Tanjung Lobang yesterday (Aug 26) during a routine patrol.
āThe results of the inspection and search found that the tanker was operated by five crew including the master (master) who are without any identification documents.
āThe vessel was also suspected of committing an offense under the Supply Control Act 1961 for carrying subsidised oil and without any Petroleum Development Act (PDA) form,ā he said in a statement today.
Mohd Shafie added that all crew members and the vessel were escorted to the Vessel Detention Centre (PTV) at Pulau Melayu in Miri for further action.
āMaritime Malaysia remains committed to enforcing the law and will not compromise on offenders who default.
