KUCHING, March 10: Lundu District Sports Complex need more maintenance funds for its usage and safety.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said the allocation channeled by Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak to the Lundu District Council for the complex’s maintenance and repair including payment of utility bills is RM48,000 per year.

“With the sports complex consisting of a football stadium, indoor stadium and futsal court, the allocation is insufficient,” he said in a briefing during Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu’s work visit to the Lundu District Council office yesterday.

Azizul added the sports complex was built 24 years ago and has high maintenance costs.

He also appealed to Gerald to consider the application for additional allocation by the Lundu District Council to enable upgrading and maintenance work to be carried out without constraint.

Following his work visit to Lundu District Sports Complex, Gerald then visited the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centex) Lundu Campus to monitor its preparation and condition as the campus has started operating and accepting students. He then proceeded to visit the construction site of a dormitory at Pueh Youth Camp. — DayakDaily
