KUCHING, Nov 14: Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan requests the Sarawak government and Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU) come out with a new Lundu District Structural and Tourism Plan.
According to him, the latest tourism master plan was created five years ago from 2014 and 2018.
“It must be completed so that we may properly plan projects and their sites, as well as develop them in a sustainable manner,” he said when debating Sarawak Budget 2025 at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting here today.
According to Azizul, findings from a recently held lab session with stakeholders including implementing agencies revealed that Lundu District is in need of urban development projects to support the future of Lundu as a tourism hub.
As such, he also hope that the government can propose a comprehensive urban development project for Lundu District which could be inspired by the Darul Hana project or similar.
“Lundu has seen rapid population growth and increasing congestion which led to the rise of informal settlements and migration.
“A balance development initiative as implemented in Darul Hana can modernise and beautify our district, addressing housing challenges and improve quality of life for residents,” he added. — DayakDaily
