KUCHING, Dec 1: Azizul Annuar Adenan is ready to take the baton from his mother Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu for the seat of Tanjung Datu and fulfil his late father Pehin Sri Adenan Satem’s vision in transforming Lundu and Sematan into tourism hubs in the Southern Region.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, when thanking Jamilah’s contribution as Tanjong Datu assemblywoman for the past four years, confirmed Azizul’s candidacy for the seat in the 12th Sarawak Election.

Abang Johari said Azizul, who he said resembles his father, is now well-prepared as the latter has the required potential and background as a leader.

“Within PBB (Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu), I want to have young people as I’ve said before. So, I think it’s only appropriate if we give way to his (Adenan’s) son to continue his vision.

“I think he (Azizul) is well prepared. He has the background and I don’t mind telling you that his character is like his father. He even sounds like his father too,” Abang Johari told reporters during a press conference at Centexs Lundu here today.

Following Adenan’s passing on Jan 11, 2017, Jamilah took over Tanjong Datu from her husband by winning the Feb 19 by-election with a majority of 6,443 votes against her two competitors.

With the 12th Sarawak State Election (PRN12) just around the corner, Jamilah also expressed her wishes to step down from politics. — DayakDaily
