According to SDNU supreme executive council member-cum-book project coordinator Margaret Bedus, the book project will start in July this year.

“The book will record the history of SDNU and the people who have been involved in its formation since 1956. So it will chronicles the journey by SDNU together with its Women wing – Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) – and its Youth section.

“We hope to finish the project by next year as soon as we can gather all the information because the Union started in 1956 and a lot of the founding members are no longer around, so we have to look for the data, statistics the stories behind SDNU,” she told reporters after the presentation ceremony.

SDNU is now led by president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom while Christopher Gira is the senior vice president.

Also present during the ceremony were SDNU vice president-cum SIDS president Dato Ir Alice Jawan Empaling and SDNU vice president Churchill E Drem. — DayakDaily
