KUCHING, Oct 22: Community leaders in the Pantai Damai constituency are urged to take initiative to provide better service for their respective community.

Assistant Minister of Utilities Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi who is also the Pantai Damai assemblyman said this is important in order to reduce the need of relying on the government agencies which depend on the availability of government funds.

“It is a must to have our own initiatives such as this leadership seminar, which will provide the input to improve knowledge and also leadership skills.

“Apart from that, it also serves as a platform to share information and at the same time, strengthen the cooperation among each other,” he said during the closing ceremony of the N4 Pantai Damai KMKK (‘Ketua Masyarakat dan Ketua Kaum’) Leadership Seminar held at Menara Pelita Auditorium, in The Isthmus, today.

Dr Abdul Rahman added community leaders nowadays must also be able to adapt to new ideas.

“There are various programmes that have been lined up and would be announced by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in the future in order to accelerate the development in the state, and KMKK must be open-minded and willing to accept new things,” he said. — DayakDaily
