According to a press release, the delegation was warmly received by Fazilah Yassin, the chief operating officer of the MPC. The meeting was facilitated by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB).

Describing the project as a ‘smart idea built in Miri City’, Teo highlighted its alignment with Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to transform Sarawak into a thriving, innovation-driven economy.

“The Kenyalang Smart City embodies the spirit of PCDS 2030—driving sustainable growth, energy transition, and digital transformation,” he said.

Teo further emphasised the growing interdependence between Brunei and Miri, especially within the oil and gas sector, and the role of MPC in facilitating trade and logistics.

“MPC will become increasingly important in managing regional port activities as Miri and Brunei deepen economic integration,” he said.

Following the discussion, the delegation was brought on a guided tour of MPC’s port facilities to gain deeper insights into its operational capabilities and potential synergies for future collaboration.

The KSC in Miri is a transformative urban development project designed to create a sustainable, technology-enabled living and business environment.

Envisioned as a smart, green city, KSC incorporates energy-efficient systems, integrated digital platforms, and cutting-edge infrastructure across residential, commercial, and civic domains. — DayakDaily
