KUCHING, Aug 1: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud was taken ill while travelling overseas and is currently recuperating.
According to a press statement by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali issued today, no acting Head of State has been appointed.
“The current situation does not require the appointment of an acting Head of State since Yang di-Pertua Negeri, though not in the State, is in communication with the State government and able to discharge his official and constitutional duties.
“The State government is regularly informed of his medical status and that the State government’s further action will be guided by the State Constitution and the interests of the State,” she said. — DayakDaily
