Symptomatic people who visited Simunjan Berek Market from July 26 to Aug 4 urged to get tested tomorrow

KUCHING, Aug 7: People with symptoms who have visited Simunjan Berek Market, located next to the old market between July 26 and Aug 4 have been urged to gest tested for Covid-19 tomorrow (Aug 8).

A notice from the Ministry of Health (MOH) has informed that an Active Case Detection (ACD) operation for Covid-19 will be held at the Simunjan District Health Office starting from 9am to 1pm.

As such, members of the public with symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough, loss of taste, vomiting and diarrhea are required to undergo Covid-19 health screening at the health office.

Meanwhile, Minister for Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian revealed that the Samarahan Division Health Office has recorded a total of 108 Covid-19 cases within Samarahan Division in the past 24 hours of Friday (Aug 6).

Samarahan Division includes the districts of Samarahan, Asajaya and Simunjan as well as sub-districts of Sadong Jaya and Sebuyau.

In Simunjan alone, Dr Sim said that an existing active cluster dubbed Sungai Mangga which was declared on July 29 and linked to an oil palm plantation has recorded 58 more cases.

Apart from that, other locations in Simunjan with more than three cases include Kampung Jirok (18 cases), Kampung Sungai Apin (4 cases) and Kampung Patong (3 cases).

In Samarahan, there were 18 cases, out of which Taman Medang Gayam has five cases, while Kampung Empila which has been placed under lockdown has three cases. — DayakDaily
