Swimming pools in Sarawak allowed to reopen Sep 4

KUCHING, Sept 3: All private and public swimming pools either in hotels, apartments, or common places in Sarawak will be allowed to operate starting tomorrow (Sep 4).

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prepared by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak have to be complied with.


On a related issue, he announced that all entertainment centres in the state are only allowed to operate until 12am.

“Effective Sept 4 until Dec 31, 2020, the operating hours for all entertainment centres are only allowed to operate until 12 midnight,” he disclosed during a press conference to give Covid-19 updates here today.

Meanwhile, Uggah also said that Malaysians involved in the oil and gas (O&G) industry who are entering Sarawak need to undergo compulsory Covid-19 screening tests for their sign-on duty.

“For foreigners and Malaysians returning from overseas, they need to undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening tests and be quarantined for 14 days before going to the platform.

“To sign off, all workers from the oil rigs to the mainland will be screened randomly and do not require any quarantine,” he added. — DayakDaily
