KUCHING, April 9: Sweden is keen on strengthening its ties with Sarawak, recognising the State’s commitment to developing its green energy industry, a focus that aligns with the growing emphasis of Swedish companies on sustainability and green energy transition.
According to Swedish Ambassador to Malaysia, Niklas Wiberg, Sarawak’s aggressive push into green energy development presents a prime investment opportunity for Swedish firms seeking to expand their sustainable energy footprint.
“All the major Swedish companies like ABB, SKF, Volvo Trucks, Ericsson, Scania, Alfa Laval, Atlas Copco, have one thing in common, which is that they invest heavily in the green energy transition and they are ready to collaborate and expand their investments further, including enhancing relations with Sarawak.”
“That is what we discussed today, to expedite this cooperation and continue our projects with Sarawak,” he was quoted as saying by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) after a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
Niklas shared that among other matters discussed with Abang Johari were energy development from waste, biomass, and further exploration of the hydrogen industry, which he stated is an important issue to be discussed in the region.
“It is very important for us to involve Sarawak in this discussion to explore potential and also link it with the expertise we possess, especially within our national business community,” he added. – DayakDaily
