KUCHING, June 8: Sarawak Water has denied the authenticity of a water supply disruption notice that has been circulating on several WhatsApp groups and social media platforms today, describing it as inaccurate, unauthorised, and not issued by the utility provider.

In a statement posted on its Facebook, Sarawak Water also clarified that the notice is not related to the current water supply situation in Miri.

“For the information of the public, the scheduled repair works involving the main pipeline at Batu 7, Jalan Miri-Bintulu, are planned to be carried out on June 10 (Wednesday).

“Any official information regarding the repair works, including the affected areas, duration of the interruption and assistance measures for consumers, will only be communicated through Sarawak Water’s official communication channels,” it said.

The utility provider also advised the public not to share or circulate unverified information to avoid unnecessary confusion and concern among consumers.

It also warned that action—including reports to the relevant authorities—may be taken against those found to be spreading false or inaccurate information.

“Sarawak Water would also like to advise the public to refer only to Sarawak Water’s official communication channels for accurate and latest information.

“Sarawak Water will continue to provide updates from time to time should there be any further developments,” it said. — DayakDaily
