KUCHING, March 18: Sarawak is expected to announce its findings of a phyto (pertaining to or derived from plants) plant research to produce biofuel in the next two months, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to Abang Johari, it will change the whole economic dimension and become a key figure.

He said this during a press conference after officiating the Women’s Day celebration held at Penview Convention Centre (PCC) in Demak today.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari disclosed he was also invited to give a speech at a regional conference on energy in Bali after the Hari Raya celebration.

In other words, he added, Sarawak is already at the forefront, and the community has acknowledged the direction of its economy.

Asked about the phone call made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to him recently, Abang Johari said they are discussing matters involving the Sarawak border and the industries that are coming due to Sarawak’s economic approach.

He pointed out that Sarawak has a lot of conferences and is at the forefront regarding the new economy, particularly in terms of carbon emission and mitigation and the move towards clean energy.

“Perhaps he wants to know more because, as you know, we are quite advanced (in this matter),” he said. — DayakDaily
