KUCHING, March 12: Sarawakian tenpin bowling athletes Nur Hazirah Ramli and Gordon Tsen Fan Yew have been called up for the national youth squad.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) yesterday (March 11), Amateur Tenpin Bowling Association of Sarawak (Abas) vice president Robert Lu Nam Min said Abas is proud of the two athletes’s achievement for successfully getting places on the national youth team.

“Gordon will leave for Kuala Lumpur on March 13 while Nur Hazirah, on March 20, to participate in a training programme there,” he told reporters during a press conference held on Wednesday (March 8).

He added Abas also hoped that the Sarawak government will give provision for Sarawak athletes who are training with national youth, national back-up and national squads.

Lu said two Sarawakians are currently in the national back-up squad, namely Gillian Lim Siew Giok and Nerosha Keligit Thiagarajan.

“Of course we intend to get more Sarawakian athletes into the national squad and Abas takes this seriously,” he said. — DayakDaily
