KUCHING, June 22: Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak) will host various programmes and events in connection with International Archives Week 2023 from June 24 until 28.
According to Sarawak State Library in a statement today, ‘Archives United’ is a week-long celebration of records and archives, highlighting the significance and crucial role of preservation including insightful discussions and exploration of collective history.
“These events are organised in conjunction with the grand celebration of International Archives Week (IAW) 2023.
“This year’s primary objectives of IAW is to strengthen understanding of the functions of the State Records Repository in the management of records and archives in Sarawak government departments/agencies, starting from creation to disposal and transfer of records for archival purposes, and to promote a culture of voluntary activities at the State Records Repository, which offers valuable opportunities for individuals interested in history and enhances their knowledge, and skills, and contributes to meaningful objectives,” it said.
Among other activities hosted by Sarawak State Library are Sarawak Records and Archives Networking (SARAN), and the Friends of Archives activities.
