S’wak sees 27 new cases of Covid-19, 20 cases from Kuching

KUCHING, Oct 28: Sarawak reported 27 new cases of Covid-19 today with 20 of the cases from Kuching.

The information was revealed by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during a press conference here today.

He added there were also four new cases in Miri, two new cases in Sibu and one new case in Bintulu.

With the extra 27 cases, Uggah asserted that the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 846 cases.

ā€œToday 20 new cases were detected in Kuching.

ā€œ14 cases were close contacts to case 798 which was reported on October 26.

ā€œThe cases had social contact with case 798 in Kuching and had a history of attending a few meetings with case 798 in Kuching.

ā€œAll of them underwent Covid-19 swab test at private medical facilities in Kuching and their rapid test polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) results on October 27 showed that they were positive Covid-19.

ā€œSix of the contacts performed Covid-19 swab test on their own at private healthcare facilities in Kuching.

ā€œTheir ages are between 19 and 54 years old,ā€ he said.

As for the cases in Miri, Sibu and Bintulu, Uggah who is Deputy Chief Minister said most of them were domestic imported cases while one was a close contact of a Covid-19 patient.

Uggah who is Deputy Chief Minister said there were two patients who have recovered and were allowed to be discharged from the hospital.

He added that there were 89 patients who were receiving treatment for Covid-19 at the isolation wards in hospitals throughout Sarawak.

On another note, Uggah who is Second Finance Minister said there were 33 new cases of Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) and one PUI case was awaiting laboratory test results. ā€”DayakDaily
