“In this regard, we will implement strategies as outlined in the Sarawak Investment Policy to enhance Sarawak’s attractiveness as a preferred investment destination,” he said in his speech during the Ministry Of International Trade, Industry And Investment (Mintred) Annual Meet 2025.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment, shared that from 2020 to 2024, Sarawak has shown strong investment performance with a total investment of RM120.3 billion covering various sectors including the primary, services, and manufacturing sectors.

Of this amount, RM51.2 billion is from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), while RM69.1 billion is from Domestic Direct Investment (DDI).

To further support industrial development which is essential to attract investments to Sarawak, under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMKe-12), a total of 46 projects with a ceiling amount of RM229 million have been approved for Mintred.

“Out of this, 10 Anjung Usahawan and Industrial Estate projects have been completed, while the rest are at various stages of implementation,” Awang Tengah said.

To enhance partnerships between Government and private agencies, the Ministry has established the Industrial Park Management Committee (IPMC) to promote effective communication and more sustainable management of industrial parks.

“In addition, this industrial infrastructure will also encourage the participation of the local entrepreneurial community in the business value chain,” he said.

Awang Tengah emphasised that the State government is also developing the Sarawak Entrepreneurship Policy to ensure the development of a more sustainable and competitive entrepreneurship ecosystem.

From 2021 to 2024, he said, the Sarawak government through Mintred has assisted more than 89,900 entrepreneurs with aid amounting to RM226 million through programs such as the Small and Medium Enterprise Loan Scheme (SPIKS), Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme (SKMS), Graduate Towards Entrepreneurship (GERAK), Technical and Vocational Entrepreneurs (USTEV), training programmes, and product promotion. – DayakDaily
