S’wak police chief: Security for PM’s arrival for forum in Kuching tightened following TikTok death threat

KUCHING, Nov 27: Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata assures that security will be tightened following the arrival of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023 in Kuching.

“We have also set up strict operational or security controls,” he told a press conference held at Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters here today.

He was responding to questions asked by reporters on the security measures that will be taken after a death threat was made against the prime minister that circulated on social media on Nov 26.

Yesterday (Nov 26), a screenshot of a TikTok video offering RM5 million to anyone to kill the prime minister, including ministers and members of a political party, went viral.

According to Bernama, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, when contacted yesterday, said that so far, one report has been received on the matter. — DayakDaily
