S’wak Para Sukma swimmers bag gold medals, set new record in Men’s 4X100 Medley

KUCHING, Sept 26: Sarawak swimmers set a new record in the men’s 4X100 Medley ctegory at the 2024 Malaysia Para Games (Para Sukma).

Fraidden Dawan, Mully Andriano, Rusdianto Rusmadi, and Galang Jabai clocked 5:31.77 at the Pandalela Rinong Aquatic Centre, cutting four seconds off the previous Sukma games record of 5:36.20.

Pulau Pinang finished in second place (5.46.35), while team Sabah settled in third place after finishing with 6:25.24 ahead of Kedah.

Meanwhile, in the 4X100 mixed category, team Sarawak also bagged gold after Selangor was officially disqualified for a false start following one of their swimmers plunging into the pool before his teammate touch the pool deck.

With only three teams competing in the category, Sarawak swimmers Sheena Ung Xin Ying, Sereen Lulong Jawi, Alwing Wong Jun Ming and Mohd Osman Zainal finish the race with 6:43.27, while the silver medals went to team Kedah which finished with a time of 7:14.51.

Sarawak finished on top overall in swimming with a total of 17 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 11 bronze medals.

Although Sabah also won 17 gold medals, they were in the second place based on cumulative medals won overall. — DayakDaily
