S’wak Metro to look into providing hydrogen feeder bus services within 2km of ART stations

KOTA SAMARAHAN, Dec 16: Sarawak Metro has been tasked to looked into hydrogen feeder bus services within two kilometres of each Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) stations, says Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.

He said the Sarawak government intends to develop the first-mile and last-mile connectivity for the ART service to ensure the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) offers greater convenience to commuters.


“Sarawak Metro has been requested to study and work out the number of feeder buses required under the different phases of development,” he said.

He also noted that the first-mile and last-mile connectivity is crucial in order to realise the full potential of the ART service.

Meanwhile, Lee said safety of passengers and of other road users would be the number one priority in the KUTS project.

“Therefore, we are making sure that we look into all safety aspects of our KUTS project, not only during the construction phase of the project but also more crucially, the operations phase.

“With my ministry tasked with this great responsibility of ensuring the successful implementation of the KUTS project, we are looking very seriously at all issues related to safety, especially with regard to the conditions of mixed traffic for the ART in the future,” he said.
