BINTANGOR, Aug 30: The Sarawak government is prepared to expedite the tender process for the RM35 million Bintangor Waterfront Park project, paving the way for the long-awaited development to move into implementation.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the State government was ready to assist in speeding up the tender process so that the project could be implemented as soon as possible.
“The waterfront park is expected to further enhance the town’s riverside area and provide improved facilities for the local community”, he said.
He said this during a working visit to Bintangor on Saturday (Aug 29), where he also inspected the new jetty pontoon and the progress of the Bintangor Waterfront Park project.
During the visit, a proposal to study the construction of a bridge across Sungai Sian within the next five years was also discussed.
The proposed study could pave the way for further assessment of the bridge’s feasibility and its potential role in improving connectivity in the area.
Dr Sim, who is also the Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG), also visited the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bintangor branch during the programme.
The latest development is expected to provide further impetus to infrastructure improvements in Bintangor, particularly with the waterfront project now set to receive assistance to accelerate its tender process.
