RM20 mln Kampung Ranchak bridge to enhance connectivity, spur Meradong development

BINTANGOR, July 30: The construction of the RM20.035 million Kampung Ranchak Bridge is set to become a key catalyst for enhancing connectivity between Kampung Ranchak and Bintangor town, improving mobility for residents while supporting broader socioeconomic growth in the Meradong district.

To assess the progress of the project, Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, accompanied by officers from the Sarikei Division Public Works Department (JKR), conducted a site visit today.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the visit provided an opportunity to review the latest developments of the project, which commenced on 10 April 2026 and is scheduled for completion on 9 April 2028.

Discussions focused on construction progress, implementation status, and matters of significance to the local community.

Ding said the bridge is expected to significantly improve accessibility between Kampung Ranchak and Bintangor town, creating stronger transportation links that will support economic activities and contribute to a higher quality of life for residents in the surrounding areas.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that the project remains on schedule and is executed to the highest standards, with particular emphasis on construction quality, safety, and the welfare of communities affected during the implementation period.

He also highlighted the importance of close collaboration among JKR, community leaders, and local residents to ensure the smooth delivery of the project and to maximise its long-term benefits for the people of Meradong.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, facilitate economic opportunities, and support ongoing development efforts across the district. — DayakDaily
