MIRI, May 20: The RM500,000 SK Miri’s multipurpose hall later named ‘Sri Miri’, which was fully funded by the Sarawak government, is now open for use.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dr Ripin Lamat represented Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to launch the Sri Miri hall today.
Ripin, who is also Lambir assemblyman, said the allocation to build the hall was approved by Abang Johari in 2018 before the construction started in 2019.
He was pleased that the construction was finally completed especially after numerous challenges such as the change of federal government in 2019 and the Covid-19 outbreak the following year.
At the event, Ripin also pledged a grant worth RM10,000 to SK Miri.
Also present were the school headmistress Masnah Sulong and its Parent Teacher Association chairman Hazrul Abdullah. ā DayakDaily
