KUCHING, Nov 29: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has seized RM15 million worth of protected wildlife, animal body parts, and plants in Miri.
SFC, in a statement today, said the seizures were conducted during ‘Ops Bersepadu Khazanah’ (OBK) with the 12th Battalion of General Operations Force (PGA).
“Among the items seized are agarwood and agarwood powder, agarwood essential oil, pangolin scales, porcupine quills, deer antlers, skulls of various animal species, coral reefs, bear bile, pig tusks, bear claws, exotic animals, baby crocodiles, and cash worth RM42,635,” it said.
SFC added that the suspects were taken to Miri Police Station for further action.
“The case is being investigated under the Wildlife Protection Ordinance 1998 (Chapter 26),” it said. — DayakDaily
