S’wak edu dept confirms investigation into teacher accused of sexual misconduct

KUCHING, June 12: The Sarawak Education Department (JPN Sarawak) has confirmed that a teacher in the State linked to allegations of sexual misconduct that recently surfaced on social media has been temporarily reassigned to a district education office (PPD) while investigations are ongoing.

In a media statement issued today, JPN Sarawak said it views the allegations seriously and is fully cooperating with a police investigation into the case.

The department also revealed that the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Integrity Unit and the Inspectorate of Schools are conducting separate internal investigations to examine all aspects related to the allegations.

According to the statement, the teacher concerned has been placed at the PPD until all investigations are completed.

JPN Sarawak stressed that it would not tolerate any form of sexual misconduct and affirmed that firm action would be taken against anyone found guilty. — DayakDaily
