KUCHING, Oct 26: All primary and secondary schools under the Sarawak Education Department’s supervision in Tebedu District will operate as usual tomorrow (Oct 27).
In a statement, the department said it made the decision based on the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 2pm today and reports from the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
“However, any changes or latest updates regarding the situation will be communicated from time to time.
“The department always prioritises the welfare, health and safety of students, particularly during hot weather or unpredictable weather conditions,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians may keep their children home if they are concerned that the haze, which continues to affect several locations in Sarawak, could jeopardise their health.
However, parents or guardians must inform the school if their children are absent.
On Sunday (Oct 25), the department ordered all schools in Tebedu to close after recording API readings above 200. — DayakDaily
