KUCHING, July 27: The Sarawak Connects Fair was officially launched in Balikpapan, Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Sarawak and East Kalimantan.
According to a statement, the event, officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, brought together government representatives, industry players, and various stakeholders from both Sarawak and Indonesia to explore the potential for regional collaboration.
“More than just a trade platform, the fair symbolises a shared commitment to drive economic development, connectivity, and sustainability for mutual benefit. It also reflects Sarawak’s support for the development aspirations of Nusantara, Indonesia’s new capital city,” said the statement.
Aligned with the Post Covid-19 Development (PCDS) 2030, the exhibition emphasised collaboration in sectors such as healthcare and medical tourism, educational partnerships, and digital learning development across Borneo, as well as urban planning based on green, modular, and resilient concepts.
“The Sarawak government also expressed its appreciation to the East Kalimantan government and Indonesian partners for their support in making the event a success.
“The Sarawak Connects Fair continues to serve as a strategic platform for strengthening networks between communities, markets, and investments across the Borneo region, paving the way for a more inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven future.
