S’wak AgroTourism Conference and Expo to showcase region’s agrotourism potential

Sarawak AgroTourism Conference and Expo (SAtCE) 2023 is scheduled to be held on Aug 28–30, 2023.

KUCHING, April 6: The 3-day Sarawak AgroTourism Conference and Expo (SAtCE) aims to showcase and promote Sarawak’s and regional agrotourism in the international arena.

According to SatCET project consultant Nor Azmi Sulong, this is the first time such an event is being organised in Sarawak, as well as in Malaysia.

“We are also thrilled that the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg has agreed to officiate at SAtCE on Aug 28.


“It shows that the authority of Sarawak is highly committed in developing the agrotourism sector,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) permanent secretary Sirai Daha said as the ministry responsible in spearheading the development of agriculture and rural communities in Sarawak, they are delighted to support SAtCE in developing the agrotourism sector as part of its mission to transform and sustain agriculture and the rural economy through modernisation and commercialisation.

“We commend the organiser for their efforts in putting together such an event in Kuching and welcome entrepreneurs, the private sector and farmers to take part in this important event and welcome all delegates to Kuching,” he added.

Organised by Derrisen Sdn Bhd and M-FICORD, together with Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP) and Business Events Sarawak, SAtCE 2023 will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Aug 28–30.

This inaugural agrotourism conference and expo is expected to gather 350 delegates and 150 exhibitors from the agriculture and tourism sectors, and agrotourism stakeholders in the hopes of creating awareness of the potential of agrotourism for Sarawak and Malaysia.

Themed ‘Promoting Agrotourism Sustainably’, about 20 industry experts from Malaysia, Australia, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Philippines and Thailand have been confirmed to speak and share their knowledge and experience on specialised topics of agrotourism.
