KUCHING, Oct 12: A suspension bridge leading to Kampung Bulau in Batu Niah was submerged in flood water today amidst flooding that has affected several parts of Miri.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, in a flood watch report today, said that one family with seven members had to be relocated temporarily to a relative’s house nearby.
Despite the fine weather today, several areas in Batu Niah including Kampung Bulau were affected as flood waters rose as high as four feet with some villagers already relocated.
Roads to Kampung Bulau were flooded under two to four feet of water, making them impassable to all kinds of vehicles as at 9.30am.
A four-member team from Bomba Batu Niah station led by Azizul Rahim Saadi was mobilised to the site to check on and assist residents as well as monitor the flooding situation since early this morning. — DayakDaily
