Suspected gas cylinder leak causes kitchen explosion while tenants away from home in Desa Pujut, Miri

KUCHING, Feb 23: An explosion occurred in the kitchen of a single-story permanent house early this morning at Desa Pujut, Miri, suspected to have been caused by a leaking LPG gas cylinder.

According to reports by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the kitchen, which measures approximately 8×6 square feet, sustained broken windows and a damaged ceiling.

The Bomba received an emergency call at 5am today about the incident and immediately deployed a team of firefighters from the Lopeng Firestation to the scene.

Upon arrival at the scene, the fire department found that the occupants were not at home, as they were away working at a nearby market.

The firefighters responded quickly to the scene and safely moved the leaking gas cylinder outside the house to prevent further risk.

No extinguishing action was required, as the fire had already subsided. After ensuring that the situation is under control and safe, the firefighters ended their operations there at 5.40am. – DayakDaily
