Suspect in Serian plantation murder found

The suspect, found at Balai Ringin, is currently being remanded for 14 days under the immigration act for traveling without a valid documentation until further action is taken.

SERIAN, Dec 9: A 42-year-old Indonesian man identified as “Pakcik” was arrested by the police in relation to a murder case in Kampung Abit, Serian.

Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anis in a statement today said based on the information from the public, the suspect was arrested by a team of police at 11.45am today in Balai Ringin market.

“The suspect who is from Pulau Lambok in Indonesia was without valid travel documentation when arrested.


“After initial investigations, the suspect led the police to the location of the incident and revealed the murder weapon, a machete, which was used in the incident,” he said.

Aswandy also thanked the public for their assistance which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect is currently being remanded for 14 days under the immigration act for traveling without valid documentation until further action is taken.

On December 6, 2019, police received a call from villagers in Kampung Abit informing them about a dead body that was found by a villager in a palm oil plantation there.

It was discovered that the body belonged to an Indonesian citizen based on the information found inside a bag near the body.

Yesterday, Serian police headquarters issued a notice seeking public help for any information of the suspect’s whereabouts. —DayakDaily.
