KUCHING, Jan 5: A suspect known as “Najib Puntong” was arrested in connection with the incident of a hijacked garbage truck that was used to ram a house in Batu Kawah on Saturday (Jan 4).
According to Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, the 36-year-old man was arrested by a police team near the Chinese History Museum along the Main Bazaar road near the Kuching Waterfront.
He disclosed that during the initial investigation, the suspect admitted that he had rammed into the property using a rented sedan car.
“The suspect also admitted to having hijacked the garbage truck before slamming the vehicle into the house, causing a section of the wall to collapse.
“The suspect was dissatisfied and angered with the victim’s act in persuading the suspect’s wife to lodged a police report in relation to their relationship problems which led to the incident,” Aidil revealed in statement today.
He added that the police have also seized a black folding knife and a mobile phone from the suspect, who had a previous police record of 25 cases. — DayakDaily
