SELANGAU, April 27: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing calls on the people of Selangau to support the party’s candidate Rita Insol.

He said Selangau would be creating history by electing the first Dayak woman to become a parliamentarian and Malaysian law-maker.

“We are creating history in Selangau. Rita is the first Dayak woman to be nominated to contest to be an MP not only in Selangau but in Sarawak.

“By electing her, you are electing the first Dayak lady to be a Malaysian lawmaker. It is appropriate as she is a lawyer by profession,” said Masing, who is also Deputy Chief Minister while launching the PRS election machinery in Selangau today.

PRS leaders taking turn to speak to the residents of Rumah William Bansa and also from other longhouses within the vicinity at the launch of the PRS election machinery in Selangau.

He said the locals should support Rita because as a local herself, she understood their needs.

“Rita is a local. She grew up here. She speaks your language. She understands your culture and your needs.

“She is surrounded by her relatives and friends. It’s your duty to choose her as your MP,” said Masing.

He reminded the residents of Rumah William Bansa and also those from other longhouses in its vicinity not to vote for outsiders who could not understand their needs.

“The outsiders will never understand your needs. They will not know who you are.”

“They just want to contest for the sake of getting elected. Dont waste your votes on strangers. They are just populist politicians with no real interest to fulfil your needs,” said Masing. — DayakDaily
