KUCHING, March 13: The Education Bureau of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central will be holding the ‘Higher Education Seminar and Counseling 2019’ in five divisions.

The programme, held in line with the release of the STPM results on March 11 and SPM results tomorrow (March 14), will take place simultaneously in three divisions this Saturday (March 16) at 7pm. In Kuching, it will be at Sa’ati Hall, SUPP headquarters; in Sibu at Sa’ati Hall of SUPP Sibu Branch; and in Miri at SUPP Piasau Branch.

At 1pm on the following day, it will be held simultaneously in Sarikei (venue will be confirmed later) and in Bintulu at SUPP Bintulu Branch (the block after Bintulu Central 101 Food Court).

The Education Bureau team is led by Lai Huat Choi and comprised leaders heading the respective regions, namely Isaac Lee (Southern), Joseph Chieng (Central) and Esther Wong (Northern).

Initiated in 2005, the SUPP Youth Central Education Bureau aimed to assist and guide school leavers in finding a pathway into university or their course of choice.

The programmes will provide students with the latest information and opportunities at various local and national universities and higher learning institutions as well as the procedures and requirements to enrol in different institutions.

Topics to be covered in the seminar to be facilitated by experienced speakers include prospects after SPM and STPM, credit points, scholarships as well as application procedures and getting ready for university life.

Additionally, SUPP Youth Central Education Bureau will also attend to questions from students through their Facebook page at SUPP Youth Higher Education Counseling.

Representatives from the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) will also set up a counter to assist and guide students on applying for loans to fund their tertiary education.

The Bureau encouraged post-graduates from local universities to join the team to help school leavers at the upcoming programme. For more information, contact Lai at 012-8813839. — DayakDaily
