KUCHING, June 1: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth secretary Milton Foo wants Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong to disclose how much federal funds have been allocated for her constituency.

Foo opined that it is also the duty of Yong to state how many federal projects had been undertaken in Pending so far this year.

“I may not be as experienced as YB Violet Yong in diverting the issue, yet she failed to answer my straightforward and valid questions regarding development issues in Pending. Do not try to divert attention, which is a common tactic played by DAP leaders.

“It is even odd when she stated that I should not question her on the amount of allocation for only certain areas, such as Pending, because the figures are for the whole state,” he said in a statement today.

On Yong’s recent statement that Putrajaya had approved 569 federal development projects for Sarawak and that the allocation for this year is RM4.3 billion, Foo wondered whether Pending constituents stood to benefit from these initiatives.

“How about upgrading schools in Pending, such as SK Kenyalang, which is in urgent need of more classrooms? How about upgrading and repairing the main roads in Pending such as Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Utama, Jalan Datuk Marikan Salleh?

“How about upgrading and constructing the long-awaited concrete drains at Lorong 1T & 1V of Jalan Foochow in Pending? How about constructing `Rumah Mesra Rakyat’ in Pending to eliminate the squatter issues within Pending constituency such as those living in the wooden house at South Peace Road, Kampung Sungai Periok & Kampung Seri Maimunah etc?” he asked.

Foo also wanted an update on the proposed upgrading of Klinik Kesihatan Tanah Puteh in Pending.

He added he was disappointed that Yong had directed him to go through the proper channels for official information, including writing to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

“If that is the case, why people elect you as a YB in the very first place?” argued Foo. — DayakDaily
