KUCHING, April 10: There is a need for a new, bigger Tanah Puteh Health Clinic to accommodate the rising number of patients.

In stating this, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central secretary-general Milton Foo urged Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen to fight for more funds to bring this to pass.

“As Dr Kelvin Yii is also the chairman of the Special Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Science and Innovation Select Committee, I urge and hope he can fight for more allocation of funds in terms of health facilities in Sarawak.

“This includes a new Tanah Puteh Health Clinic as the current building situated at Jalan Kwong Lee Bank in Pending has a very limited space and cannot accommodate the rising numbers of patients, especially the car park,” he said in a statement today.

This came following Dr Yii’s recent announcement that he will be engaging with local contractors to upgrade facilities at Tanah Puteh Health Clinic especially the toilets.

To this, Foo commented that the coming project is part and parcel of the fund allocation for MPs after Democratic Action Party (DAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with United Malays National Organisation (Umno) last year which included a RM2 million fund allocation every year for MPs.

“There is also an urgent need to upgrade the health facilities, amenities and utilities of the said health clinic including but not limited to toilets for a better environment not only for the public but also the medical staff stationed there,” Foo asserted. — DayakDaily
