KUCHING, Mar 19: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth believes that the video showing Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s entourage apparently being exempted from scanning upon entering Wisma Bapa Malaysia was misleading.
SUPP youth chief Michael Tiang said the video was misleading as it showed only a partial truth.
“The video is very misleading which fails to present the actual fact that the chief minister was in fact not the only person who was scanned for body temperature while walking into Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
“In fact he was the last person in the entourage to be scanned, while others were already scanned before CM entered the building,” Tiang told DayakDaily.
Tiang said when there was an outbreak of a pandemic like Covid-19, everyone had an equal chance to be infected.
“No one has privileges over others in a virus outbreak. As for the chief minister being the head of state administration, the health check protocols can only be more stringent and cautious than others so as to ensure he and his entourage would not be infected at all times,” said Tiang.
Tiang called on all to abide by Restricted Movement Order to protect themselves from the disease.
“In this very challenging time, I urge the public not only to adhere to the strict rules of Restricted Movement Order so as not to get infected.
“It is also equally important that we stay calm and not to be misled by false information spreading around in social media,” said Tiang.
DayakDaily had on Mar 17 (Tuesday) published a live video showing Abang Johari going through a body temperature scan while entering Wisma Bapa Malaysia and heading straight to the lift to attend State Security Council meeting. The video clip did not include his entourage undergoing scanning.
Following the live streaming of the video, a local politician made it an issue, raising the question why Abang Johari appeared to be the only one was scanned and not the rest of his entourage.—DayakDaily
