KUCHING, May 21: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central Organising Secretary Elson Tie is calling for greater participation from Sarawakians in the state Covid-19 vaccination programme to prevent the spread of the virus and minimize loss of life.
Tie, who is also Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) councillor, in a statement today, said the Sarawak government has utilised the best way to protect the people of Sarawak, which is by purchasing an additional vaccine at its own expense.
“While giving time for that to be ready, let’s be extra patient and continue to abide by the various standard operating procedures (SOPs) implemented to maximize the protection for everyone’s safety.
“I hereby appeal to those who are suitable for vaccination to actively participate in the vaccination drive out of their personal wishes, in order to achieve the goal of community immunisation by September this year, and bid farewell to the hardships caused by the pandemic,” he said.
He claimed that the pandemic would be over if all people are single minded, and at the same time accepting the vaccine as soon as possible to block the chain of transmission.
Meanwhile, Tie also expressed his respect for the selfless efforts and struggle of the frontline medical staff in the fight against the pandemic. –DayakDaily.
