KUCHING, Dec 12: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) and its youth wing should focus on ensuring promises made to Sarawak during the last general election are fulfilled, rather than sacrificing the state’s rights for political gain, according to Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central secretary-general Nicholas Toh Kah Shiong.

In a statement today, Toh criticised the Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (Dapsy) for using “monitoring and checking on Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)” as a pretense to mask what he described as inaction, adding that such actions only expose a lack of constructive proposals.

“DAP and its youth have frequently criticised the Sarawak government under the guise of ‘monitoring and checks and balances.’ However, in reality, they have seldom put forward concrete alternatives or constructive suggestions on major issues concerning Sarawak’s future development,” Toh said.

He accused the Opposition party of relying on empty slogans that fail to gain the trust of Sarawakians and instead politicised critical issues.

Toh further alleged that despite DAP’s claims of being “the voice of Sarawak” in Parliament, its performance has been disappointing, citing a lack of substantive efforts to champion Sarawak’s rights or achieve meaningful outcomes.

He urged Sarawakians to recognise the progress made under GPS leadership and not be misled by statements from the Opposition.

He expressed confidence that the people of Sarawak will discern which leaders truly work for the State’s development and urged voters to make wise choices in the next election. — DayakDaily
