KUCHING, Aug 13: Politicians from both government and the opposition are urged to prioritise people over politics and place importance on people’s lives and livelihood.
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap said instead of excessive “politicking”, all efforts must be concentrated on preparing in advance and stepping up policies with a clear and dynamic direction to ensure the health safety of Sarawakians as well as to revive and accelerate economic recovery by allowing parliamentary democracy to function.
“This is because business confidence for investments which creates jobs is dependent on clarity and consistency of policies based on the rule of law,” said Yap in a statement today.
Yap hoped that every government policy as well as mitigating measure implemented to fight this Covid-19 pandemic will be based on expert and scientific data which takes into account public interest.
On another matter, Yap, who is also SUPP Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) chief, said the overgrown tree branches that block the entrance to Jalan Semeba have been cleared out by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) following a complaint from the local residents.
According to Yap, during his recent “turun padang” visit to Jalan Semeba, the local residents complained about four overgrown trees at the entrance to Jalan Semaba where the tree branches were encroaching onto the property of the residents.
He said the residents also complained about the trees obstructing the view of vehicles exiting Jalan Semaba, causing great inconveniences and have become a safety issue to the road users of Jalan Semaba.
“The affected residents were worried of the branches breaking during a storm causing damage to their houses.
“Following the request for assistance received, the complaint was immediately communicated to Padawan Municipal Council and the problem caused by the trees have been resolved,” he said. — DayakDaily
