SUPP Women’s wing recommends reduction in income taxes to help individuals, businesses through Covid-19

KUCHING, Mar 27: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women’s wing chief Kho Teck Wan proposed for a reduction in income tax rates for personal and business entities.

Kho in a statement said that she believed the move would ease the burden of both business owner and employee.

“Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s RM250 billion economy stimulus package tried to cover all the ‘rakyat’ and I am also glad to see a substantial amount is allocated to medical supplies and healthcare providers to fight Covid-19.

“Since tax season is coming, I would also like to propose that the government reduces the income tax rates for personal and business entities,” she said.

She said that reducing income tax doesn’t require extra paperwork and no extra application would be needed. It would also greatly reduce the time needed to process subsidy and loan applications.

She also pointed with that it would help sustain businesses longer and enable them to retain more employees to help the country push through this Pandemic together.

“Although the economic stimulus package is not perfect, but the ‘rakyat’ are in this unprecedented crisis together.

“In fact the whole world is fighting this invisible enemy; therefore I hope my fellow Sarawakian will stand united, stay at home, give whenever we can, help one another and with that we will win this war against Covid-19. This too shall pass,” she added.—DayakDaily.
