KUCHING, Sept 27: The RM400 billion allocation under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) is set to get the nation back on growth trajectory, opines Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok.
According to Sim in a statement today, the 12MP also plans for a better social security and protection of the environment to ensure sustainable growth of the country.
“It also has dedicated a whole chapter to enhance Sarawak and Sabah social economic development, including the need to narrow the development gap between the East and West Malaysia.
“Our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced his commitment to resolve all Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) issues and close the development gaps in infrastructure, as well as completing Pan Borneo Highway and improving the utilities.
“This includes providing better health care by turning our university in Sarawak into a University Hospital, building 26 health clinics across Sarawak and Sabah, the digitalisation of East Malaysia region, reducing poverty, and closing the income gap,” he said.
He pointed out that under the 12MP, the government targets to build 500,000 affordable houses over the 5 years plan.
Apart from that, he said, the government also plans to improve the finance for affordable houses to reduce the burden for all Malaysians wanting to buy their own houses.
“My personal opinion on the 12MP as announced by Prime Minister today, it is a good plan that have taken into account the focus to ride through the pandemic to restore our lives and livelihood, as well as putting our country on track to be high income nation by 2025,” he added.
Earlier today, the prime minister tabled the 12th Malaysia Plan themed with “Prosperous, Inclusive and Sustainable Malaysia” in Parliament with a total of RM400 billion allocation for the country’s five year road map. – DayakDaily
