MIRI, May 30: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting today reminded party members to continue giving their full support to party president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian to enable him to fight for what the party stands for.
“Without a full mandate (for Dr Sim), we will not progress as one and reach the same destination. We have been fighting for peace and justice, for our families and for our party for the good of our younger generations,” he told a press conference here today.
Ting met the reporters to announce that SUPP would be celebrating its 60th anniversary soon, with the SUPP Piasau Branch organising a flag-raising ceremony at its premises on June 4.
A series of programmes have been drawn up, and Ting hoped all party members would come together to celebrate this auspicious occasion.
Ting noted that SUPP is the oldest political party in Sarawak. It was founded in 1959 to fight for the people and for Sarawak’s interests. The three interlocking rings in its logo represents the three major races in the state.
Saying that SUPP had always been fighting for the people and Sarawak since day one, Ting hoped “the new generation of members will continue with the aims and objectives of the party” that were put in place by its founding fathers. — DayakDaily
