KUCHING, July 15: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Lintang branch Youth chief Liew Leong Yee is urging the police to take immediate action on recent cable theft cases here at Tabuan Jaya and Tabuan Desa.

Together with a Tabuan Desa resident, he said, he had filed a police report regarding a stolen telecommunication cable at Lorong Keranji 4F3, Tabuan Desa Indah, while accompanied by Penghulu Dato Pui Chow Hin and Kapitan Ethan Tan Kok Chiang.

“There have been several incidents of cable theft in Batu Lintang, especially in Tabuan Jaya and Tabuan Desa.

“The disruption has caused residents not to be able to access the internet and make phone calls,” he said in a statement today.

Liew said such cases would cause not only lengthy repair time and bring inconveniences to the people but also incur huge losses to telco companies.

He thus urged members of the public to quickly lodge reports either to the authorities or the police if they find any suspicious persons or activities in their residential area. — DayakDaily
