KUCHING, April 6: SUPP Bawang Assan branch led by its chairman Senator Robert Lau delivered food aid for nine longhouses at Kampung Rassau, Batang Igan, Matu which were put under EMCO for two weeks starting April 5.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan in a press statement disclosed a total of 166 families received the food aid which include items such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, canned sardines, vermicelli, fresh vegetables and face masks.

The items were sponsored by SUPP Bawang Assan.

Meanwhile, SUPP Bawang Assan also disclosed that the Mukah Divisional Health Department had carried out the first Covid-19 swab test on 308 residents of Kampung Rassau last week and 17 individuals had tested positive for Covid-19.

The second swab test will be conducted on April 10.

SUPP Bawang Assan noted Kampung Rassau is not well connected to urban centres as the roads have to pass through oil palm plantations and were subject to weather conditions.

Thus, this had resulted in the residents seeking SUPP Bawang Assan chairman Senator Robert Lau for assistance in view of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Apart from that, the Sarawak government had also provided food aid to all residents of Kampung Rassau including the civil servants stationed there.
