Sukma 2024: Over 700 athletes to compete for 34 gold medals in Bintulu

KUCHING, July 20: More than 700 athletes will be competing for 26 gold medals in Bintulu during the Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024 in August.

Sukma 2024 chief executive officer Datu Hii Chang Kee said Bintulu will be hosting the football, sepak takraw (8 gold medals), and Muay Thai (26) events.

However, he added that no gold medals would be contested for the football event because the final match would be held in Mukah.

Hii said this when met by reporters during his visit to Sukma 2024 competition venues in Bintulu today.

On the same note, Hii conveyed his gratitude to the National Sports Council (MSN) for the approval to organise the women’s sepak takraw team event.

He said this will enable a total of 488 events to be held in this edition of Sukma.

On July 18, the women’s sepak takraw team event was given the green light to continue as planned following the 11th Malaysia Games High Committee Meeting 2024, chaired by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil. — DayakDaily
